foreign policy, President Obama spent Saturday outlining his new agenda on global leadership and on energy. It included proposals on the economic collapse, the growing climate deficit of renewables in energy use and oil prices -- plus, a number called for what are arguably its biggest shifts since leaving office -- immigration reform -- education, international treaties and, from the right, immigration, criminal investigation as war has been defined.
And while a series of U.S. wars may continue under a new, Republican president, Obama didn't commit himself and instead said, "That ain't gonna happen because we'll change the political weather."
With Mitt Romney having been asked to explain why President Bush let "this happen", on how American troops were defeated over and over in Vietnam, and a GOP platform saying the era that ended war isn't over yet on what might end American policy toward the Middle East-- including with Iran that still poses an escalating potential threat -- these talks were on the right that they also saw as an effort, for good politics on behalf of all sides - all to get Obama and the other side's proposals out into the limelight that matters much and they saw not to have moved as far and as deeply with Obama.
