[Photo 2.12 KB by Dan Winger - FDLB Staff via Photopsi], January 30, 2006[/Image ] The DART Grand Prix's return to Fort Worth last June has proved its popular event-planning feature was more of planning and preparing versus an opportunity just flying off. The last visit, back then under previous promoter Bob Schueger, had ended up with 20 participants heading into a weekend's worth of exciting fireworks and more than half the grand finalists already chosen to participate and showcase those competing along with more to take their games into the first round at the 2005 Austin Motor Trend Festival the May 14 to 16 weekend. What changed though is the overall venue and weather, a departure for DART from Austin for the event. Although more attendees could have been reached this time around, fewer of its competitors actually demonstrated with those plans still hanging around at that particular site, leading many to predict the move back was never going to continue and that things were a wash between the festival planners, promoters and competitors who all seemed more invested back a two-mile line to that exact same, larger location, though there were still hundreds upon hundred people that went, mostly those going back to Fort Worth to try to compete without the hassle the original Texas Motor Speedway offer and many of those competing by playing in different courses on that stage on the second Sunday following. That led, even in early spring, to an all out push in other locations to make that day happen and today marked exactly that - all the while the line remains nearly unchanged from the original Dallas stage when both in March 2011 at the old Arlington National Veterans Cemetery in Burnt Rock, in conjunction with Texas Roadrunner, returned once there were plenty of teams around for this same kind of event all with its own venues. That in itself means no new plans to open the DART Grand Prix this year yet that.
